Our Wegovy and Mounjaro price changes: what you need to know
We've reviewed our prices following market changes. Now, some will pay less and some more. See how it affects you and what your options are.
You might have heard about the recent Mounjaro price increases. On 1 September 2025, Mounjaro's manufacturer, Eli Lilly, raised the wholesale price of Mounjaro in the UK. This price hike has led many providers to raise prices for customers, too.
At SemaPen, we froze the price of Mounjaro and absorbed most of the cost instead. Throughout September, new customers have paid £159 for a starting (2.5mg) dose.
We kept the price at this level because we wanted to give you plenty of time to choose what to do next. After all, it's not fair to rush you when you're making a decision that could affect your health and weight.
However, the offer couldn't last forever. We've reviewed our pricing again and, like nearly all UK suppliers, have taken the difficult decision to change our prices in line with market conditions.
What are the new prices?
As of 1st October, our new prices are as follows:
- Mounjaro costs £225 for the starting dose (0.25mg).
- Wegovy costs £189 for the starting dose (2.5mg).
As before, the price you pay changes as you step up your dose. Here's how the new prices look, month by month:
Mounjaro
Month 1 (2.5mg): £225
Month 2 (5mg): £225
Month 3 (7.5mg): £299
Month 4 (10mg): £299
Month 5 onwards (12.5mg): £349
Wegovy
Month 1 (0.25mg): £189
Month 2 (0.5mg): £189
Month 3 (1mg): £189
Month 4 (1.7mg): £289
Month 5 onwards (2.4mg): £289
That means 12 months of treatment with Mounjaro now costs £3,840. Previously, it cost £3,290.
Why have Wegovy prices increased, too?
We've increased the starting price of Wegovy from £129 to £189.
However, we've also tweaked the price for each dose that follows. With our new, simplified pricing, long-term treatment with Wegovy is actually cheaper than it was before.
Previously, 12 months of Wegovy cost you £3,238. Now, it costs £3,168.
That's a saving of £70 on the old price – and £672 less than 12 months of Mounjaro.
What are my options?
We know it's frustrating when our prices change. But the important thing is that you're free to make the best decision for you.
If you subscribe to our Mounjaro programme, you can choose to:
- Carry on with the new pricing: we'll send your next dose as normal at the new price.
- Switch to Wegovy: talk to your SemaPen team and we'll arrange a fast-track medication review. If Wegovy is suitable for you, we'll switch you to Wegovy and you'll pay Wegovy prices from your next dose.
- Cancel your subscription: while we'd love you to continue your weight loss journey with SemaPen, you're free to cancel your subscription at any time.*
The same is true if you're a Wegovy subscriber. But don't forget that Wegovy now costs less in the long run compared to the old pricing.
Which medication offers the best value for me?
Remember that Wegovy yields an average weight loss of around 15%.¹ With Mounjaro, it's approximately 21%.²
That extra 6% of weight loss might be more cost-effective for some people than others. As an example:
- If you started at 150kg, you could expect to lose 7kg more with Mounjaro. It would cost you around £17 more per kilogramme.
- If you started at 90kg, you could expect to lose 4kg more with Mounjaro. It would cost you around £31 more per kilogramme.
